Note from the Publisher ~ Have You Read Wonder?

April 26, 2016
I love to read and it's a special treat to find a book you just can't put down, that makes you laugh and that can make you cry. If anyone happened to be on the plane flying from NY to Roanoke last Wednesday and saw me wiping my eyes I wasn't weeping in happiness to be home, it was because of this book. This most amazing, perfect book. Wonder by R.J. Palacio.

It is about a boy who has facial abnormalities and for the first time ever is entering mainstream school as a 5th grader. You can imagine how difficult that is going to be right? Kids can be so cruel to each other. And it's not just about bullying. It's that being different in any way is hard. And, that sometimes it takes courage to be kind.

Maybe it's because I have a 5th grader right now. Maybe it's because I have red hair and freckles and know how hard it is to be different when you're an 11 year old. Or maybe it's simply because we all really want kindness to win out in the end. I think now more than ever, the message in Wonder is one everyone, everywhere needs to read.

My 5th grader is reading the book now and I am going to read it with my soon to be 9 year old. I want nothing more than to teach my kids that choosing kindness is always the right choice. #allthefeels
