Independence Day Fireworks at Smith Mountain Lake

July 2, 5 p.m. at Parkway Marina 

Join the Saunders Volunteer Fire Department for their annual fireworks fundraising event. Food trucks availabile. Music by Tate Tuck. $10 per person at the gate.  More Details

Rotary Club of Rocky Mount’s Independence Festival

July 1, 5-10 p.m.  700 Tanyard Road, Rocky Mount, VA 24151

The Rocky Mount Rotary Club is proud to present the 39th Annual Independence Festival on July 1, 2022 at the Franklin County High School in Rocky Mount. Free Admission!!

Come for Dinner and Stay for the Biggest and Best Fireworks Show Ever!!! The Fireworks will begin at dark and we will have live music throughout the evening (more info to come).

Our event will also include a raffle drawing for cash prizes.


Roanoke City Fireworks at River's Edge

Freedom First Festival Elmwood Park
July 311 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Bring the whole family to celebrate during Independence weekend at our Freedom First Festival from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. in Elmwood Park. This FREE Festival will have inflatables, a rock wall, cornhole tournament, lawn games and more! Hang out in the beer garden or at the Elmwood Amphitheater and enjoy FREE Music until 4 p.m. with beer for sale and a variety of food truck options all day.

Four on the Fourth to Benefit Boys and Girls Club of SWVA

July 4th 8 a.m. 

Four on the 4th has become a 4th of July tradition among friends and family in the Roanoke Valley to kick off the holidays’ festivities.  More info and registration.


Vinton July 4th Celebration 

TBD: At the time of publishing, I could not find current information for Vinton. In past years, fireworks were on the 4th, 6:30 p.m. -10 p.m. at the Vinton War Memorial


Fincastle Fireworks at Breckenridge Elementary School

July 4 at dusk.  The Town of Fincastle will be hosting its annual July 4 fireworks show. Please bring a lawn chair and some snacks and join us for a true community event. 


Independence Day Celebration at Jefferson's Poplar Forest

July 4th, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. 1542 Bateman Bridge Road Forest, VA 24551

Celebrate the 246th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence with some good old-fashioned family fun at Thomas Jefferson’s Bedford County retreat. Enjoy colonial-style entertainment, demonstrations by colonial artisans and craftspeople, archaeological displays, old-fashioned children’s activities, pony rides, a reading of the Declaration of Independence and more! Grounds admission to Independence Day festivities is $10 for adults; children 15 and under are free.
