Creative Memories
My Story
I joined Creative Memories in July of 2009. I was pregnant, knew I wasn't going back to work, and I was looking to bring in some extra spending money for myself. I had heard of Creative Memories through my mother several years ago, and really liked the quality of their products such as their albums, paper, stickers, tape, and cutting tools. When my mother introduced my sister and I to Creative Memories, we purchased supplies we could all use and we would gather and scrapbook. It was quality girl time for us! I also really enjoyed it because I was recording memories of my life. By working for Creative Memories I could enjoy a hobby of mine, but also make a little money. I had only been in Roanoke for a year, and was having a hard time meeting new people and making friends. I was hoping having a Creative Memories business would help me meet new people and become friends...and it has!
The Company and Products:
Creative Memories has changed over the years from when I first was introduced. When I first learned of Creative Memories creating a page was easy, you get a border, some paper to match and some tickers, place them on a page, your done. Very simple! We still have simple traditional scrapbooking with albums, pages, stickers, and kits, but we have also gone digital! We have software(Memory Manager) that makes it easier for you to load your pictures from the camera or phone to the computer, and organizes it for you. With the Storybook Creator Plus software we are able to design scrapbook pages on the computer and then send them to be printed like a traditional album or made into a book. We can design coffee mugs, mouse pads, calendars, wipe off boards, wall prints, t-shirts, stationery cards, and holiday cards, all with a click of a few buttons! If that wasn't enough, we have great organizational supplies, scrapbooking tools, cricut cartridges, and our Magnetic Everyday Display. The Magnetic Everyday Display is a frame that can be hung on the wall with a magnetic background that allows you to change what you have on display whether it be pictures, notes from school, or a combination of both.
How do I do business?
So that I can get my name out, I started off my hosting Creative Memories parties. I would try and schedule one show a month, sometimes at my house, sometimes I could get friends to host one. I talk about the products and what I use them for, what I can create, which is easy, because I use them all the time and I believe in the product. At the end of the party, some people choose to purchase items, others have to think about it and I will follow up with them, but others just aren't interested, and that's fine. I also try to have monthly crops to give my customers time with me and time to get away and have fun being creative. When new products come out, I have a new product party so that my customers can see what's new and give it a try. Sometimes its new tools, a different paper pattern, new album color or design, a software update, or an update on an old tool/ accessory. The crops allow me time to see my customers, but it also allows me the opportunity to make a little bit of extra money on the side.
