Children Helping Sandy Hook Students

Just like adults, children who feel the pain and sadness of what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary may feel compelled to do something to help.

Preparations are underway for the welcoming of the Sandy Hook students back to school in a vacant school offered by a neighboring town. To help and comfort the students, the Newtown Parent Teacher Association has suggested a number of ways noted below in which we can have our children be involved in helping make the Sandy Hook Elementary children’s return to school a little brighter.
As you work on these projects together, your children may have questions about the tragedy. The National Association of School Psychologists offers advice on how to talk to your children as well as many other online resources.

Snowflakes for Sandy Hook
“Let’s Give Sandy Hook School a Winter Wonderland” by making snowflakes which will adorn the halls at their new school. Snowflakes like each of us are beautiful and no two are exactly alike, so let’s get creative and be colorful.

Please make and send Snowflakes for Sandy Hook by January 12, 2013 to:
