Summer Sunlight Activity ~ Recycled Shampoo Bottle Caddie

June 24, 2014
Unilever's Project Sunlight has inspired my boys and I and do some fun projects this summer. I love the idea of creating a more sustainable environment and I love that my kids are excited about it, too. Kids learn by example, and by showing them the importance of recycling and sustainability the hope is they'll carry that with them as they grow up making the world will be a better place in the future.

Now see my kids in action creating a caddie out of our used shampoo and lotion bottles.

Materials needed:
  • empty and clean shampoo, conditioner, or lotion bottle
  • sharp scissors or exacto knife
  • Your choice of decoration: modpodge & fabric, duck tape, stickers, or markers
What to do:
1. Draw the outline that you'll cut on the bottle being sure to leave enough of the back to use as a handle or to hang up, and leave enough on the front to fit a phone or other items.
2. Carefully cut the bottle (probably best for mom or dad to do this step if doing with younger kids)
3. Use your creativity and decorate your bottle!
