Awesome App Alert ~ Creatacard from American Greetings

August 19, 2014
I’m terrible about remembering to buy birthday cards, or anniversary cards, or get well cards, you get the point. Events and things always creep up on me and then I’m bugging my kids to quick draw something so we can send it off in the mail. And, let’s face it, while my kids are very creative their cards never quite hit the mark. (One year my youngest drew zombies on my mom’s bday card. Sigh.)

When I heard about Creatacard, a new iPad from American Greetings, I was pretty psyched. It combined my kids’ creativity with the ability to send a professional card in the mail. Perfect-o!

Here’s how it works. Kids can choose from pre-designed templates or they can start from scratch to create their very own masterpiece. They can add text, colors, designs, stickers, stamps, and even upload pictures from your iPad to really personalize the card. Then on the back they can add their name to the “made by” box so the recipient will know just who made this amazing card they received in the mail. Yep, in the mail. Once the card is done you can have it sent to anyone anywhere in the world for just $3.49. Another very cool feature of the app is that once you send a card you can use the “Where’s My Card?” feature and track it to see where it is and know when it’s delivered.

My kids are 9 and 7 and had no trouble at all figuring out this app. They had a lot of fun making birthday cards for their Poppop and I loved that it kept them entertained (i.e. quiet and not fighting) for quite a while. Plus, no messy art supplies were needed to make the card! Win win!

While this app is super kid-friendly, kids can not actually send a card in the mail without a grown-up, so no worries about your little ones sending cards all over the universe!

Creatacard is a free app available for the iPad and you can check it out here.  You can also learn more on their website www.americangreetings.com/creatacard & be sure to follow them on Twitter and "like" them on Facebook.

Quick update--My dad received the card my boys' made. We ordered it on a Monday and he received it that Thursday, and he loved it!

I was compensated for this review and all opinions are my own.
