Roanoke's Largest Consignment Event ~ LFA Kids

August 19, 2014
Do you ever wonder what to do with all those nice things your kids have outgrown, but are still in great shape? And is it really worth the yard sale headache to only get 25 cents for those things that are worth so much more?   It is so easy to turn your kids' clutter into cash with LFA!  I have been consigning with LFA for 3+ years and have made some big bucks!  (Though I must admit I generally end up spending that same amount on new things for my kids, but hey, at least I break even!)

The Fall/Winter LFA Kids Sale is slated for Oct 4th-12th at a new location this year. I actually think it's pretty great the LFA Kids Sale moves around every couple of years because it allows different neighborhoods and areas to be closer to it. And have you noticed that each new location gets bigger and bigger? Me? I'd travel anywhere to the sale but it is nice when it's in your backyard! This year it's across for the 220 Walmart next to Clearbrook Elem at 3434 Buck Mountain Road.

LFA also likes to keep things new , fun, and fresh and this year they are announcing some cool changes~
  • NEW for CONSIGNORS-CONSIGNOR BUCKS – For every 50 event quality items you consign, you will earn a ticket for a chance to win $100.00 in consignor bucks. Items must be event quality and are subject to inspection by our check-in staff.  Bucks may be used at any time during the event and are not redeemable for cash. Winner will be notified prior to consignor preview night.
  • NEW for VOLUNTEERS – Earn even more by completing all of your scheduled shifts! Simply complete the shifts you have selected and you will earn $20.00 shopper rewards to be used at the next event. Reward may be used on any event day and are not redeemable for cash. For those who are unable to fulfill their obligation and do not find a suitable replacement, we may deduct 5% from your sales check. We count on each and every volunteer to make the event a success!
  • NEW for SHOPPERS- SHOPPER REWARDS – Earn $10.00 in shopper rewards for every $100.00 you spend. Rewards may be used Sunday – Friday only and are not redeemable for cash. Pick up your reward card during checkout.
Being a consignor is still VERY simple!  (Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can!)  The first step is to register to be a consignor by going to www.lfakids.com. The next step is to prepare your items.  LFA has a great list of acceptable items on their website. LFA has made it very easy with an online tutorial for how to tag your items, and they even have a pricing guide to help you determine the best prices for your items.  Keep in mind all this work is totally worth it because you will earn 60% of the sold price!

For super busy moms they have a “Full Service” option where you simply get your items (80 item maximum) to them (in boxes, bags, storage totes, etc.) and they prepare your items for you.  You do earn a lesser percentage (40%) than if you prepare them yourself but very worth it if you don't have the time to do it yourself.  Registration is still required for this option and there is a $10 fee.

Be sure to check the website for drop-off days and times.  It doesn't take long, but plan for about 30 minutes and have your items sorted by size and gender.

And, that's it!  Consignors get to hit the sale before the public on their Consignor Night the night before.  I LOVE preview night because I can get in there and get the stuff I'm really needing before everyone else gets a turn!

There is a reason LFA has been happening twice yearly since 2000 here in Roanoke. There is no better way to find great quality items for your children at a fraction of the cost.  Don't drive all over town looking for the best deal; they have it all under one roof!  Having kids is expensive and if I can save money by getting some great items at a consignment sale, I'm doing it!  (And, my kids don't the difference anyway!)
