Introducing the All New RAIL CITY ROLLERS

September 2, 2014
As one of the fastest growing sporting trends in the nation takes hold in the greater Roanoke Valley area, the Rail City Rollers make their debut. As a grassroots effort by independent skaters, the Roller Derby league was formed in June 2014 as a non-profit organization. With an athletic drive and a sincere love for the fans, the team will bring fun, family-friendly entertainment to the Valley as bout season kicks-off early next year. Parents and fans can enjoy local sporting entertainment with the knowledge that bout production and skater interaction will be geared more toward kids and families.

Rail City Rollers have been busy this summer making appearances at various local events. Including Salem Relay for Life, Geek Mob, Downtown Festivals, and their own Summer Family Jam event in June where fans were entertained with roller derby scrimmages, kids track races, live jam skaters, group dances and bounce houses. In addition, RCR has been hard at work building and training for a busy first season. The league is currently recruiting for men’s, women’s and co-ed roller derby teams. If you or your family has ever been interested in playing or watching Roller Derby... now is your chance!
