There’s just something about summer evenings in downtown Roanoke when Party in Elmwood is happening. Music fills the park, kids run around with friends, lawn chairs line the grass, and families settle in for a fun night together.
Delta Dental’s Party in Elmwood is back for the 2026 season with live music on select Thursday nights at Elmwood Park from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. It’s one of those events that has become part of summer for so many local families and friend groups over the years.
This season brings back several beach music favorites along with a few newer bands during special “The Remix” nights. Those evenings will feature a different style of music while still keeping the relaxed atmosphere people love about Party in Elmwood.
The 2026 lineup includes:
May 28 — The Kings
June 4 — The Embers featuring Craig Woolward
June 11 — Chicago Rewired*
June 18 — Too Much Sylvia
June 25 — REO Survivor & Company*
July 9 — The Domino Band
July 23 — The Band of Oz
July 30 — Kids in America*
August 6 — Maggie Baugh*
August 13 — Y2K Kids*
August 20 — The Kings
(*The Remix nights)
One reason families enjoy this event so much is that it truly works for all ages. Kids under 12 get in free, there are activities for children during the event, and there’s plenty of space to spread out with blankets and chairs while enjoying the music.
Food and drinks will be available on-site, with food truck details expected soon. Just keep in mind that admission and concessions are cash only.
Another thing worth mentioning is the community support behind the event. Local nonprofit groups volunteer throughout the season, and donations are made back to those organizations. This year’s nonprofit partners include Angels of Assisi, Giving Back Society, and the Roanoke Valley Shag Club.
If your family has never gone before, this is one of those easy summer traditions. Grab dinner downtown or plan to eat at the park, bring a couple of chairs, and let the kids enjoy a summer night outside.
And as always, keep checking our calendar all summer long for more family-friendly events happening around the Roanoke Valley.
