This week, we're sharing a powerful story that’s bringing our community together — and offering one more way we can all support a remarkable local teen.
Cam, a student at William Byrd High School and a team member at Bonsack Chick-fil-A, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer, in July 2024. In just a short time, he has already inspired so many with his strength, courage, and deep faith.
Recently, Cam’s mom came across a story about another young person facing cancer who asked people to give her 1,000 stones — decorated or plain — before her scan. The legend behind the gesture is simple but powerful:
1,000 stones equal one miracle.
She shared the idea with Cam, and he loved it. Now, as his next scan approaches on August 5, Cam is inviting the community to help make that miracle happen — one rock, one prayer at a time.

With just under three weeks (23 days!) to go, Cam is hoping to collect 1,000 stones, each one representing a prayer, a hope, or a word of encouragement.
πͺ¨ How Your Family Can Help:
Find a rock — paint it, write a Bible verse or kind message, or simply leave it as it is. What matters most is that you pray over the rock before sharing it.
πͺ¨ Rocks can be:
- River rocks
- Beach rocks
- Park or backyard finds
- Decorated or plain — all are welcome
π Drop-Off Locations:
- Bonsack Chick-fil-A – Cam’s workplace
- William Byrd High School – Cam’s school
- Valley Church – Cam’s home church
If you’d rather deliver your rocks directly, Cam’s family is happy to meet or arrange a pickup.
Cam has already inspired his school, church, coworkers, and beyond. This is just one more way to rally behind him. Let’s help him reach 1,000 stones — and hold onto the hope for one miracle.

π 1,000 rocks. 1,000 prayers. One powerful purpose. π
