Making your own bird feeders at home is not just a fun activity for the kids, it's a great way to bring beautiful birds to your own backyard! Bird watching can totally become an educational experience for little ones! I highly recommend grabbing a bird book at your local library or book store so you can start to recognize some of the birds coming to your new feeders. You also might want to keep a log of which birds visit most often and when they visit.

1/4 cup Water
3/4 cups Bird Seed

- Mix together 1/4 cup water and 1 pack of gelatine. Bring to a simmer and continue stirring until gelatine is fully dissolved. (takes just a few minutes)
- Remove for the heat and let cool for a minute.
- Stir in bird seed and you may need to add a little more if there is still liquid in the bottom of the pan
- lay cookie cutter or mason jar lid on wax paper and fill half way with birdseed mixture
- make a loop with the string (so you'll be able to hang it) and press into the birdseed
- continue filling with birdseed to cover the string and fill the cookie cutter
- allow to dry overnight, turning every now and then
- remove from cookie cutter and hang up on a tree!
