Easter Craft: Homemade Easter Baskets

By Jamie Clark, MK Roanoke Publisher April 15, 2014
No need to go out and buy expensive Easter baskets. You (and your kids) can have a lot of fun making your own from things around the house (or from a quick trip to Walmart or Target).

Soda Bottle Easter Basket
1. Cut off the top portion of a 2-liter soda bottle that has been rinsed out and dried. (I was able to use a sharp pair of kitchen scissors)

2. Using Duck Tape, or another type of tape, tape around the top so there is no rough edge.

3. Use a hole punch to put 2 holes on opposite sides and thread a pipe cleaner through for the handle.

4. Decorate with stickers or foam shapes. This is where your kids will really have fun!

5. Fill with Easter grass or bring it to your next egg hunt!

Edible Basket
1. Tape 4 boxes of Peeps together using clear packing tape (very hard to see it). (note: other types of candy work equally as well for this)

2. Cut out a piece of cardboard or heavy paper and tape to the bottom.

3. Create a handle using Duck Tape and tape to basket with clear packing tape.

4. Fill with Easter grass. No need to fill with candy because the basket is candy!

Recycled Milk Jug
1. Cut off the top portion of an empty milk jug that’s been washed out and dry.

2. Use tape to cover the rough edges.

3. Braid 3 pieces of ribbon and attach using clear packing tape.

4. Decorate using stickers or you could even break out the paint and really have some fun!

5. Fill with Easter grass.
