It seems lately like everyone is sick or has been sick or is right now washing their hands so they don’t get sick. Pretty much par for the course for this time of year. I don’t want to say I’m a germ-nut but I do try and keep my kids as healthy as I can (because sick kids at home = little productivity for this work at home mama!).
Recently I was sent the Vicks CoolMist Humidifier to try out. When my boys were babies I used a humidifier all the time when they were congested, but quite honestly, I never really considered using a humidifier when my kids were healthy. Yes, humidifiers are great for stuffy noses, chapped lips (my kids' lips are the worst! The worst!) and congestion, all those dreaded dry air symptoms of winter, but did you know that studies have shown that maintaining a relative humidity of 40-60% can reduce survival of the flu virus in the air and on surfaces like sink faucets, door handles, and countertops. What!?! Your Vicks CoolMist Humidifier can do that!
This mini humidifier is super easy set up, easy to clean, and I love that it has no filters. You can also control the humidity level and it will run all night long on one tank of water but does have an auto-shut off in case you ever forget (because moms never forget stuff, right? wink) I think what I love the most though are the Scent Pads. Vicks VapoPads come in a soothing menthol (just like using good ole' Vicks Vapor Rub) and relaxing lavender/rosemary vapor. Not only do you get the benefit of the humidifier, you get a soothing scent in the air, too!
My kids share a bunk bed so I set this up on a shelf nearby. Right now my boys are healthy (knocking on wood right now), but anything I can do to help keep them healthy and give them a good night's sleep I'm gonna do. We are loving this humidifier and my kids seem to be sleeping well and their chapped lips are improving! This is a great little humidifier, and the lavender/rosemary vapors are my favorite (just in case you were wondering.)
