LulaRoe is So Much More Than Leggings

By Leah Humerickhouse, LulaRoe Fashion Consultant November 21, 2017

Meet Leah Humerickhouse. Leah lives in Roanoke with her husband, Edward, and their three beautiful children (Kaleb 10, Piper 5, Kinley 2). I recently asked Leah to share a little bit about how she became a LulaRoe Consultant and to share more about why she loves being part of LulaRoe. This is her story.

I became a LuLaRoe Fashion Consultant in February 2016. LuLaRoe is a modern line of women's and children’s skirts, shirts, dresses, and cardigans but we are best known for our buttery-soft leggings. There are limited numbers of each LLR print and each Fashion Consultant has their own unique wardrobe. For those of you who don't know me, I don't have a background in direct sales (I am actually a social worker). I never thought that I was someone who would get into direct sales. However, after the birth of our Kinley in 2015, I ended up with postpartum depression. Even though I work in a psychiatric hospital, PPD is something that you really can't appreciate until you are right there in the middle of it. I had some amazing friends and family around me that quickly helped me recover from this. However, I found myself scared that it would come back. I just couldn't shake the feeling that I wasn't back the same Leah I was before. I had always prided myself in being "tough" and able to take care of myself. With PPD, I found that I had to reach out to those around me to help me get through it. I was left feeling weak and vulnerable. This is where LuLaRoe entered the picture.

I was sitting at home, trying to figure out why I would even contemplate doing LuLaRoe, when I had a light bulb moment...I would be doing LuLaRoe to find myself again. To show myself that I am the strong, capable, independent woman I thought I was before the PPD had come. That was deciding moment for me and it propelled me forward in my journey. I quickly felt like "Leah" again, but an even stronger version of myself.

As LuLaRoe offered me to opportunity to provide more and more to the financial security of our family, I could see a burden being lifted off Ed to be the primary financial provider for our family. Instead of picking up extra shifts, he now has more time to enjoy being home with our family. This has been a huge blessing for us all.

Since my start with LLR in February 2016, I have traveled all over Southwest Virginia and beyond for various vendor events, private in-home parties, and fundraisers. I also do parties here at my house and online in my facebook shopping group. I have had the honor of meeting so many wonderful families through my work with LuLaRoe. I am so proud of the money we have raised for various community organizations like Mental Health American, the American Heart Association, Cave Spring High School SCA, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, church youth groups and Missionary trips, among other wonderful community organizations. I travel with my trailer and am able to accommodate large fundraisers and parties. I also love doing personal styling sessions right here in my home.

Right now is a great time to book your party, fundraiser, and/or personal styling session.  Everyone is looking for that perfect holiday outfit and, of course, presents for everyone on their list. I would love to help you pick out your outfit for upcoming holiday parties. We can work together to find leggings and other great gifts for your loved ones. I also have gift certificates available that make great gifts for any lady on your Christmas list!
