Note from the Publisher {1/15/19} ~ What Sparks Joy?

By Jamie Clark January 15, 2019

Raise your hand if you've done the Marie Kondo thing? Raise your hand if you have no idea what I'm talking about? Ha!

Marie Kondo has been ALL over my social media feed so I finally caved and watched an episode of her show on Netflix. If you're not sure what I'm talking about you can find it here

Marie Kondo is a kind, soft-spoken woman who wants us to get organized by keeping only those items that bring us a spark of joy. Some may argue she takes it to the extreme but she is striking a chord with a ton of mamas out there. So, have you done it? Have you made the huge pile of clothes and gone through piece by piece?

I have not. But, in all honesty, this is something I do from time to time already. I get immense joy out of throwing things away. And, once I get started on a room I can't stop. So, that is why I haven't started because I know once I do it will be an all-day ordeal and I'm not ready to pull the trigger on that quite yet. Plus my husband gets cranky when I throw trash bags down into the basement for him to take out. Timing is everything, people!

In the meantime, I adore the "spark of joy" mentality and really want to infuse that in all I do. I don't just think it should be things in our house that bring us a spark of joy but things we do, too. Granted life doesn't always work this way because driving my kids to school when they have missed the bus does NOT give me a spark of joy. Folding laundry? No spark of joy there, either. Though magically Marie Kondo makes it look enjoyable. But there are things that do bring me a spark of joy. I am loving the Gixo Fitness App (and you can read all about it and even see how to join me in a workout). I love cooking the Hello Fresh meals we get weekly. And I love writing a quick note to you all each week. I'm hopeful these small sparks of joy throughout my day will help balance out the other (less joyful) tasks I still have to. Because I have yet to find a way to make that laundry pile get folded and put away without me doing it.

Have a fantastic week and be sure to check our calendar, Facebook and Instagram pages frequently to help you find your family fun this week!
