Note from the Publisher {3.5.19} ~ Read any good books lately?

March 5, 2019

I fully realize that some of you are laughing at my asking if you've read any good books lately. Unless I'm counting children's books. Which I'm not. Not this time anyway. I know that finding even 5 minutes for yourself when you're a mama to wee ones is HARD. Like unimaginably hard. But that doesn't mean we aren't going to talk about it.

I've been thinking a lot about self-care and doing kind things for myself lately. I think we are sometimes hardwired to put others first and while that's not a bad thing if we don't put ourselves first every now and again it can really start to affect us. And not in a good way. This isn't selfish. This is self-care and there is a big difference.

So this past weekend I did something kind for myself. Something I love to do that makes me happy. With the help of a friend (who took one kid for a sleepover) and the help of my husband to help with the other kid, I read a book. Yup. The entire book. All 448 pages of it. And I loved every single second of it.

I snuggled up with my coffee, then tea and then a glass of wine (spread through the day mind you) and got lost in a story. I'm sure you're curious about what I read. And I will tell you but what I read isn't nearly as important as the finding time to do something kind for yourself is. And maybe reading isn't your cup of tea. That's fine, too. The point is you need to do something kind. For yourself.

And, for those interested, I read Sophia Kinsella's new book, I Owe You One: A Novel. I love her quirky and fun style of writing. I love the characters she creates. And I love the subtle life lessons she teaches us in her books. This is a perfect book to curl up with on a rainy day, a snow day, a beach day or just a random Tuesday!
