Note from the Publisher {4.9.19} ~ Digital Detox. Sort of.

April 9, 2019

At the end of last week, I was feeling really drained. Mentally from work projects and having to do advanced Calculus to figure out my kids' afterschool sports schedules. Suddenly between two boys we are balancing 3 baseball teams and running track. Physically because allergies. I, of course, Googled the best places to live if you suffer from seasonal allergies and I either need to move to Denver CO or by the ocean. And I should definitely avoid spending too much time outside. Did I mention the 3 baseball teams and running track? Because none of those are done indoors. Or near an ocean.

Come Friday afternoon I was ready to curl up and lay in bed all weekend long. Unfortunately, I knew that would be impossible with all the baseball on the weekend schedule so I decided the next best thing for me would be a digital detox. I needed a break and a weekend without email and social media would be perfect. The only thing I used my phone for was to take a couple of pictures and to keep tabs on my kids because of course, they had baseball games in different locations on Saturday. I mean phones can be a little bit useful!

Taking a break from emails and social media was wonderful. So wonderful I wasn't quite ready to dive back in on Monday morning and prolonged my detox a little bit longer by taking a little 2-mile walk with my dog to kick off my week. I didn't even take a picture and just walked and enjoyed the scenery around me. It was refreshing and by the time I sat down at my desk I was back to being mentally ready and as physically ready as I can be thanks to Claritin D and doTERRA On Guard in my office diffuser.

I'm so glad I listened to my body and gave it what it needed this weekend. A break from the constant stream of what's happening in the world and a chance to stop and enjoy the moment as it's happening.
