The Bambino Babysitting App has arrived to Roanoke!

Meet, local mama community coordinator, Barrie, and learn more!

July 8, 2019

Bambino is a free mobile app that modernizes the way parents find, book, and pay trusted local sitters. Through integrated social connections, parents are connected to babysitters right in their own neighborhood, who have already been reviewed and recommended by friends and neighbors. Booking, schedule reminders, and payment all happens right in the app. Sitters have the flexibility to earn money when it works into their own busy schedules. Bambino is babysitting made easy.

What really sets Bambino apart from other babysitting services are the hand-selected Community Coordinators in each area of the country where Bambino has launched. These CCs recruit talented, top sitters, communicate with parents, answer questions, host events and serve as the touchpoint for that entire local Bambino community. And, you guessed it, they often become the most popular parent in town because they have the hook-up to all the best sitters.

Bambino was just launched in Roanoke, Virginia in June, by local Mom, Barrie Ely, a mother of two and transplant from WV. Without any family nearby, she and her husband were struggling to find trusted sitters so that they could enjoy a regular date night, but the problem is solved. Sitters of varied ages and experience, some with medical training, are signed up and ready to serve the valley from Bent Mountain to Blue Ridge and Troutville to Smith Mountain Lake.

Barrie, mom of 2 boys, loves helping people. By growing the Bambino network of sitters in Roanoke, she can help parents find much needed adult time and also help sitters find more work.   Barrie also started a Facebook support group to guide sitters in Roanoke, distribute information, and help sitters improve their skills and value.

Barrie also wants to partner with local businesses, " I believe in shopping local and eating local, and I want to grow the Bambino community in a way that supports that. I’ve been visiting different spots - leaving Bambino cards and talking to parents to get the word out. In return I’ll be sponsoring my own giveaways by giving out gift cards and items purchased from these businesses. I’m still brewing up lots of ideas to interweave Bambino into life in the Roanoke Valley!"  To get things started, if you try Bambino out in the month of July, you'll be entered to win a $50 gift certificate to a local restaurant.
