Consignment and Re-Sale Shopping in Roanoke Virginia

Save Big on Next Season's Clothes!

By Beth Bell, Publisher February 17, 2020

The Roanoke Valley offers many opportunities to purchase second-hand, gently worn, previously loved by someone else, clothes and accessories at  re-sale and consignment stores and pop up events.

Shopping Re-sale is smart for several reasons, including the obvious, saving money.  Studies show the average family spends between $1300 and $1800 on clothing each year.  Shopping on consignment or at a re-sale event will save buyers save upwards of 70%.  It makes much more "cents" to pay $7 for a pair of jeans than $47. In addition, if you have a champagne style on a juice box budget, you'll appreciate the bargains you can find on designer clothing. Not only can you save money when purchasing clothes, you can also earn money by selling your own gently used items on consignment.

In some cases, shopping previously used clothes gives back to the community by providing jobs and other opportunities, such as when you shop at a Goodwill store. If you went behind the scenes at any of the area re-sale events, you'd learn that truckloads full of clothes are donated to underserved families.

We also love that buying clothing and accessories at a consignment store or re-sale event is also better for the earth. It helps prevent clothes from being thrown in the landfill and will eventually help slow the production of new clothes.

We've pulled together a list of consignment and re-sale shops and events so you will be ready for the spring season!

Consignment Events

These events offer a variety of kids clothings, accessories, books, toys and equipment. In addition, you'll find a selection of clothes for Moms and household goods. LFA and Back on the Rack happen twice per year and feature seasonal clothes. Items are carefully inspected to ensure quality finds at all 3 events.  Consignors earn even more by volunteering to run the events.
