One of the things I love most about my role as Publisher (sales and event planner) at Macaroni Kid Roanoke is getting to know the business owners of all the special places and services we share with our readers. One of the things that has always stood out to me when working with Ellen, the Mom Boss behind LFA Kid's Consignment Event, is how much she loves the community service aspect behind what she does. Ellen is passionate about saving families money through her sale and also through the benefits she offers her event team. LFA employees dozens of moms each sale, and most of them return year over year. One of them even uses vacation time from her job to help with the sale because she enjoys it so much!
"LFA provides a valuable service to the community of the Roanoke Valley. Not only do we provide low cost clothing for every budget, allowing families to outfit their children with better quality and better brands that they might not otherwise afford; our consigners can also choose to donate their unsold items to The Rescue Mission. We have donated dozens of truckloads of items over the years to help those in our community."- Ryan M.
Ashley loves the thrill of finding great deals! Team members get the first chance to shop the sale as one of their benefits.
"I honestly love the whole entire atmosphere around the sale. Who doesn't love the thrill of a great deal? When you have thousands of people all eagerly anticipating that thrill, you can't help but get caught up in the excitement. This also feeds into why I want to come back and work each sale. It started with volunteering so that I could have early access to shopping. I loved being able to come in and browse before the huge crowds came through the doors. Quickly, though, I realized how much I enjoyed the set up process as well. You get a first look at everything coming into the doors and the excitement builds as more and more items arrive and the sales floor fills up.I really enjoy helping consignors figure out where to put their items and working to puzzle out how to make everything work and flow to create the easiest shopping experience for everyone. "
For Jennifer K, mom of 4 kiddos, the sale is extremely helpful in buying clothes and toys at a huge discount. She loves being able to earn cash by clearing her clutter! "I get rid of the things my kids have outgrown while making the most money I can on their gently used items plus I get to see all the great items coming in that I want to take home to my family!"
Ryan M found the sale when she was pregnant with her first child and found all the equipment she needed, in better brands, at a better price, then she could have without the sale. She sees the LFA team , and customers, as family. When asked why she comes back to work each sale,
"I see my LFA family is just that, a family! Not just my co-workers, but the shoppers that I only see during the sale. I see children growing and families growing. People remember me as much as I remember them and I love that!"
In addition to all of these wonderful reasons to work the sale, LFA team members also receive a ticket to the TEAM LFA Pre-SALE shopping hours and are the first to enter the building! Team members can also earn up to $100 in LFA STORE BUCKS to use at the event.
