The Gainsboro and Kirk YMCA will host teens every Tuesday (Gainsboro) and Thursday (Kirk) for cooking classes, gardening, fitness, field trips and more! Dinner will be provided and all participants will receive a free YMCA membership for the entire summer!
The Beacon Initiative is designed to build foundational skills and competencies that students need to graduate from high school, succeed in their chosen careers, and give back to the community.
The Schedule
The program runs Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 20th - August 10th from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Teens will meet Tuesdays (at the YMCA Express at Gainsboro) and Thursdays (at the Kirk Family YMCA). Parents/guardians are responsible for transportation to and from locations. RCPS+ Students will receive transportation from Lucy Addison Middle School to locations.
Registration
Beacons Reset is free for rising 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students. Beacons Reset participants will be provided a FREE YMCA teen membership throughout the summer! Participants must attend 50% of the programming to maintain their teen membership. To register, please call 540-344-9622 or email jpait@ymcavbr.org
Additional Program Information
Tuesdays at YMCA Express at Gainsboro: Participants will be involved in cooking classes, gardening, fitness programs, Science Museum events, and college field trips.
Thursdays at the Kirk Family YMCA: Participants will be exposed to Y amenities such as swimming, gym time, Group Exercise classes, and more!
