By Shelby Phelan, Co-Publisher Macaroni Kid Roanoke October 28, 2024

There’s no better way to embrace the changing fall season and the approach of Halloween than a family day out at the Sinkland Farms Pumpkin Festival in Riner. I was fortunate enough to take my family there on Sunday, and it did not disappoint. Truly, there’s something for everyone, regardless of interests or age. From picking the perfect pumpkin and navigating the corn maze to watching pig races and savoring fall treats, Sinkland Farms has everything needed to create family memories that will last a lifetime. Here’s a glimpse of what awaits you and your family on your next visit.

An Amazing Corn Maze — Ranked 6th Best by USA Todays 10Best Reader's Choice Awards
This beautiful maze features a fantastic map and helpful markers throughout to guide you along the way. My 7-year-old loved being able to help navigate our family using the easy-to-read, well-designed map for both the main maze and the kids' maze.

The Pig Sprints
The Pig Sprints offered a cute bit of entertainment and a fun way to engage my teen by betting on the winning pig—with Grandpa Ike’s amazing donuts as the prize! The odds were 20% on Sunday, with five pigs racing each round.

Endless Kids' Games and Activities
The kids’ games and activities are endless, captivating children of all ages. I even spotted some parents and older kids enjoying the slides!

Food Trucks, Vendors, and the Beer Garden
The variety of vendors and food trucks was fantastic, allowing you to extend your day and take a leisurely break from all the other festival fun. The beer garden and live music were great additions for adult enjoyment as well.

Farm Experiences Up Close
Opportunities to get up close and personal with the farm were also abundant—from horseback rides and visiting farm animals in the barn to a classic hayride out to the fields to pick your own pumpkin. The farm is beautiful, with the changing colors of the season all around.

In conclusion, a visit to the Sinkland Farms Pumpkin Festival is a delightful way to celebrate the fall season with your family. From engaging activities and delicious treats to breathtaking scenery and cherished memories, it truly offers something for everyone. Whether you’re navigating the corn maze, cheering for your favorite pig, snacking on kettle corn, or simply enjoying the vibrant autumn colors, you’re sure to leave with a heart full of joy and a camera full of memories from the beautiful photo stops. Don’t miss out on this wonderful seasonal experience—plan your visit for the final weekend of the festival, November 1-3!
