Creating a will is crucial for parents with minor children. In your will, you can appoint a guardian who will be responsible for the care and upbringing of your children in the event of your death. This allows you to have a say in who will take care of your children and ensures that their best interests are protected.
In addition, if you don’t have a will at death, your assets will be distributed based on the Virginia intestacy statute in effect at the time of your death. The intestacy statute may not provide the result that you actually wanted.

A native of Franklin County, Sarah chose to stay in Virginia and attend the College of William and Mary for her undergraduate degree. While applying for law schools, she knew she wanted to return to help the families of southside Virginia. While attending Washington and Lee School of Law she solidified her focus in family law. After years serving families and businesses in the courtroom in the fields of domestic relations and civil litigation, Sarah has taken her passion for helping people and turned that into Wills on Wheels, PLLC, a mobile estate planning firm with a mission to provide peace of mind through planning and preparation.
