Celebrate spring with the tradition of the 67th Annual Vinton Dogwood Festival, April 28 through May 1. The festival features a four-day carnival, the annual parade, over 90 vendors featuring handmade crafts and Business Showcase, Friday night concert, festival entertainment stages, antique car show, the crowning of Miss Vinton Dogwood Festival, free Kid’s Zone, and the brand new free Teen Space.
The celebration begins Thursday at 6 p.m. and concludes Sunday with carnival rides for children and adults, games, and food by Cole Shows. The energetic, THE PIZAZZ BAND, performing soul, funk, beach country, and rock will present a concert on Friday evening at the Vinton Farmers’ Market Stage, from 7 pm to 10 pm, with gates and beverage garden open at 6 pm. Admission is $5.00.
Saturday, April 30, is a fun day of activities for all ages.
Events include a full day and night of carnival rides and games as well as a craft show, business showcase, antique car show, and live entertainment on two stages that will include: Tim Martin and Brian Wheeling, The McFlys Ultimate 80’s and 90’s band, William Byrd Jazz Band, Defy Gravity Cheer Team, and bluegrass music.
Our free Kids' Zone located at the Vinton Farmers’ Market will feature large inflatables, a petting zoo, crafts, games, and prizes. We are also announcing a brand new and free “Teen Space” with a climbing wall, gaming stations, and other fun activities. Festival foods include barbeque, nachos, fries, hotdogs, catfish, and much more.
In keeping with tradition, the crowning of the Miss Vinton Dogwood Festival Queen will take place on the Vinton Municipal Building stage at noon. One deserving William Byrd High School student will receive the coveted crown and the honor of riding along with her court in the 67th Annual Dogwood Parade.
The annual parade will step off at 2:30 pm following a route from the Vinton War Memorial on Washington Ave. through downtown Vinton to Gus Nicks Blvd. All ages will enjoy the William Byrd High School Band, Virginia Highlands Pipe and Drum Band, Miss Kitty’s Cosmonaut Stilt Walkers, a variety of floats, walking and novelty classic vehicles, costumed characters, and much more during the parade!
