The Indian Students Association (ISA) at Virginia Tech presents the Diwali Celebration 2023 featuring a Cultural Show, Fireworks Celebration and Dinner on Sunday, November 5, 2023 starting at Burruss Auditorium on the campus of Virginia Tech.


Event Schedule:

• 4:30-6:30 PM: Cultural Show (inside Burruss Auditorium)

• 7:00-7:15 PM: Fireworks (outside on the Drillfield)

• 7:30-9:30 PM: Dinner (inside the Commonwealth Ballroom)


Join ISA at Virginia Tech for a night of celebration! Enjoy the performances of dance, drama and music from our extremely talented student body, an amazing display of fireworks, and savor the flavors of Indian cuisine in a delightful dinner, all in one night!

To wrap up the evening, there is also a special Diwali Dinner available to savor the flavors of India starting at 7:30 PM inside the Commonwealth Ballroom located within the Squires Student Center. Enjoy a delectable feast featuring a variety of mouthwatering Indian dishes from Roanoke's authentic Indian restaurant, Taaza. Advance reservations and payment are required. Diwali, also called the festival of lights, is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in India, signifying the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair.


Admission is free for the cultural show and fireworks.


The Indian Students Association (ISA) at Virginia Tech is an international student organization which furthers the interaction between the Indian students, members of the Indian community in Blacksburg, VA and southwest Virginia with the spirit of Virginia Tech. The ISA is a platform for displaying the rich and varied culture and heritage of India as well as encourage students to integrate within the American way of life.


The ISA forms the largest international group on campus with over 600 individuals, consisting of students and families, participating in socio-cultural events each year. We are a strictly secular, non-profit and non-political organization. We sponsor a wide variety of events, including celebration of Indian festivals, volunteer activities for spreading awareness about India, as well as a forum for promoting individual talent.
