Summer Camps

The Salem Parks and Recreation department has provided summer camps for the youth in the City of Salem for over 25 years, giving kids the opportunity to experience the fun of various activities throughout the summer. Each sports camp is taught by Salem High School Head Coaches, some of the premiere head coaches in the Roanoke Valley. Camps offered also include an Art Camp and the Salem Junior Golf which is taught by the pros at Hanging Rock Golf Course, making it a great introduction to the game of golf.

At only $10 per camper for most camps, the City of Salem offers some of the most affordable summer camps around. Camps are for rising 2nd to 9th graders unless otherwise noted.

Summer Camp Details

FUTURE SPARTAN CAMP

• Date: July 1 to July 2
• Time: 9 am to 10:30 am
• Ages: 3 to 6
• Location: South Salem Elementary
• Instructor: Ed Green
• Fee: $10

TENNIS CAMP

• Date: June 10 through 13
• Time: 9 am to 11:30 am
• Ages: Rising 2nd through 9th graders
• Location: Salem Civic Center Tennis Courts
• Fee: $10
• Instructor: Steven Willinger, Head Tennis Coach, Salem High School

Please note: Campers need to bring their own racquet.

1. WRESTLING CAMP

• Date: June 24 through June 27
• Time:
  • 2nd through 5th Grade: 9:30 to 10:30 am
  • 6th through 9th Grade: 10:30 am to 12:30 pm
• Location: Salem High School
• Instructor: Lawrence Van Liew, Salem High Wrestling Coach
• Fee: $10

1. GIRLS BASKETBALL CAMP

• Date: June 24 through June 27
• Time:
  • 2nd through 5th Grade: 8:30 to 10 am
  • 6th through 9th Grade: 10 am to Noon
• Location: West Salem Elementary

1. BASEBALL CAMP

• Date: July 29 through August 1
• Time:
  • 2nd through 3rd Grade: 9 to 10:30 am
  • 4th through 9th Grade: 10:30 am to 12:30 pm
• Location: Kiwanis Field

• Time: 9 to 11 am

1. VOLLEYBALL CAMP

• Date: June 3 through 6
• Time:
  • 2nd through 4th Grade: 9 to 10:30 am
  • 5th through 6th Grade: 10:45 am to 12:15 pm
  • 7th through 9th Grade: 12:30 to 2 pm
• Location: Salem High School

1. SOFTBALL CAMP

• Date: July 29 through August 1
• Time: 9 am to Noon

1. CO-ED SOCCER CAMP

1. CHEERLEADING CAMP

1. SALEM JUNIOR GOLF CAMP

• Date: Aug 5 through Aug 8
• Time:
  • Beginner Session: 8:30 to 11:30 am
  • Intermediate Session: 12:30 to 3:30 pm
• Ages: 8 to 14 years old
• Fee:
  • Beginner Session: $125 (includes starter set of clubs for each participant)
  • Intermediate Session: $100
• Location: Hanging Rock Golf Course

1. BOYS BASKETBALL CAMP

1. FORENSICS CAMP

• Time: 8:30 to 11:30 am
• Ages: 6th to 9th graders
• Fee: $10

This a speech/debate camp and has nothing to do with criminal forensics.
